Kathryne and Phil oversaw the architecture and building of Antria. They travelled extensively after leaving University.Their love of food, wine and entertaining led them after 20 years in the city to move to Marlborough for a new challenge and a new beginning.
With 7 year old Andrew and cat Hedes in tow, Antria was born and at the end of 2000 was opened by Peter Biggs (the then Chair of Creative New Zealand).
Kathryne has a background as a Secondary teacher and Phil as an Insurance Broker.
Kathryne loves to cook and the pantry is always full of preserves from either home grown produce or from the surrounding district. She juices the apples for breakfast and still has time to teach on a relief basis when needed.
Phil has perfected the art of wine appreciation and likes nothing more than to visit the local vineyards in search of that special bottle of wine. He does however still maintain his Insurance Broking business in Wellington.
But it was the vision of Antria that brought them to the South Island and to Marlborough.
Now with Andrew 15, still with Hedes and the addition of Fly the Border Collie and four free range chickens, the scene is complete. Antria has gone from a paddock with an old Apple and Plum orchard to what it is today. Phil and Kathryne welcome you to their home and while you will arrive as guests, we expect you will leave as friends.
