The 2013/14 summer season has come to an end and our guests have enjoyed a great deal of what Marlborough has to offer
Staying at ANTRIA has given guests a opportunity to explore the region and over the summer guests have enjoyed many of the fine dining options available here. It was great to have Gibb’s Restaurant on offer (WELCOME BACK, CHRIS!) along with other favourites like the Vintners Hotel (with that YUMMY small plate – the baked Avocado with blue cheese and caramelised onion !) and the Herzog Bistro. Many also enjoyed a relaxing pint or two with gourmet pizzas et al at the DODSON at the end of Old Renwick Rd.
Our current piglets grow with the help of the Dodson’s restaurant leftovers – THANK YOU DIETMAR AND JOHN! Our pigs now will not eat our scraps…
Sundays have included visits to the Marlborough Farmers Market to enjoy local produce along with the great atmosphere that comes with local growers selling all sorts – from oils to veges to breads and flowers……
As always, many Vineyards have been visited and while Seresin, Auntsfield, Bladen and Lawsons Dry Hills were again favourites – Clos Henri in the Wairau Valley with their chapel cellar door, and Yealands in the Awatere Valley certainly did not disappoint. It was also great to have Mahi open again this summer. How about another Long Italian Lunch, Brian?!!
New to the experiences enjoyed by guests this summer was the Kayak down the Pelorous River following in the footsteps -well, river of, the Dwarves from The Hobbit Movie. This was certainly a great afternoon for those that wanted a bit of movie magic to say I Have been there! when back home!!
How about the Float plane rides around the beautiful Sounds – even being taken out for lunch on a sanctuary island there. Great photos came back from that day.
The Mussel Cruise and Mail Boat cruises were taken by some out of Havelock. Lunch on the Marina at the Slip Inn was also a highlight. People raved about the freshest fish and huge mussels
Certainly the Sir Peter Jackson Aviation Heritage Centre was a must see for many and we are very lucky to have such a World Class Aviation museum in Blenheim.
Even Prince William and Kate had a look when they visited Blenheim in April.
